Exactly 77 years ago, 5 October 1936, at the Grand Hall of The Moscow Conservatory, under the direction of Alexander Gauk and Erich Kleiber The State Orchestra gave its first performance. In the photograph, taken a quarter century later, appear the orchestra’s leaders (center: left to right) Konstantin Ivanov (1946-1965), Alexander Gauk (1936-1941), and Natan Rakhlin (1941-1945).
