Richard Strauss’s Salome under the Direction of Vladimir Jurowski

On 12 April 2014 at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the concert performance of Richard Strauss’s Salome will be presented to mark the composer’s 150th anniversary. Vladimir Jurowski will conduct. The show starts at 19:00.

Says Jurowski, “The title role will be sung by the amazing Bulgarian singer Alexandrina Pendatchanska, who appeared in the recent staging of Ruslan and Lyudmila at the Bolshoi Theatre, where she performed the part of Gorislava as a primary cast member. This is an important step for the orchestra on its way to mastering the repertoire of the 20th century. Only through working with singers, the orchestra liberates itself and starts breathing freely. It is not by chance that my programs feature as many vocal soloists as instrumental ones.”
